Flood Damage in Wilderness National Park. (9 December, 1996)

The national parks in the southern Cape have not escaped unscathed from the effects of the recent floodings throughout the region. In particular the Wilderness National Park has suffered some damage, with the result that the caravan/camping sites of the Ebb & Flow restcamp are not up to the standards usually maintained by the National Parks Board.

Although cleaning-up operations to remove mud, sand and other flood debris are progressing well, tourists who have already made reservations for caravan/camping sites in this restcamp for the December season, should take note that the conditions at these sites are not ideal. Chalet accommodation in the restcamp remains unaffected, however.

Tourists who have confirmed reservations for caravan/camping sites and are undecided about whether to take up such reservations due to the flood damage, are requested to contact: Elsabe Harmse or Martin van der Walt at the Ebb & Flow restcamp, tel (0441) 877-1197 or fax (0441) 877-0111.
